MEDTEQ+ Innovatech Bourse Diane Coté - $15K towards development of Ultrawave - Remote AI Cardiac Ultrasound System

On February 4th, 2026, I had the honour of receiving the Diane-Côté-MEDTEQ+-Innovitech Scholarship in support of our project, Ultrawave.

What began three years ago during the early days of our doctoral studies has since grown into something much bigger — the creation of the Healthcare for Extreme and Rural Environments (HERE) research hub, and a shared vision to develop an AI-guided cardiac POCUS ultrasound system aimed at improving access to care for remote and rural communities, while also bringing greater attention to women’s cardiovascular health.

This recognition reflects the dedication, collaboration, and passion of an incredible team. I’m deeply grateful to celebrate this milestone alongside the HERE Principal Investigator, the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Fluid Dynamics at the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, my PhD supervisor, Lyes Kadem, HANAE ELMEKKI, Samuel Boaknin, Britt Wiseman, and the many talented members of the HERE team, including Alexa Stroll, Rachel Sayegh, Sarujan Thangavel, David Naranjo, Lorenzo Mercuri-Bastien, and many others.
